Leah Freeman, MSW

Background in counselling:

For over a decade, I’ve helped individuals navigate anxiety, depression, burnout, chronic illness and pain, disability, neurodivergence, shame, developmental trauma, and life transitions. I have an expertise in tailoring support to those who are neurodivergent and for whom mainstream approaches might have been a challenge so far. My approach is grounded, collaborative, and practical. I draw from evidence-based methods like strength and solution focused therapies, mindfulness based cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy that is trauma-informed to meet you where you’re at, without judgment or pressure. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or seeking concrete strategies to manage ADHD and executive function challenges, I’m here to support you at your pace.

I am also qualified to assess incapacity for the purposes of instituting a tutorship or homologating a protection mandate in Quebec. I have extensive experience in hospital settings supporting people with loss of autonomy and the impacts of cognitive decline and mental health crisis. I am very familiar with the impact this can have holistically on a family and the need to support caregivers in their desire to protect their loved ones while balancing the right of autonomy of the affected person. I am also particularly aware of the current social services network in Quebec and can help guide you through the different systems you may be currently facing, whether it is home care, the need for medical assessment or institutional living.
